WebTips!
One
of the best ways to help keep your
PC clean and virus free is to never
open an attachment from someone that
you do not know.
Transfer
HTML documents and other text-based
files in ASCII mode, and transfer
graphics, sounds, and executable programs
in BINARY mode.
Sometimes
it is useful to clear out your browser
cache. This can save disk space or
delete unwanted files. To do this
just select the "Tools"
menu and the "Internet Options"
item. Choose the "General"
tab and click the "Delete Files..."
button. Click "OK" to delete
all of the items (except cookies and
offline content) in your cache.
Backups
are extremely critical to keep your
system secure. If your system is damaged
by a virus or an intruder you will
have a way to recover.
The
difficulty of finding specific information
is growing fast. Although tons of
search engines are available, pick
two, then take the time to learn them
well. I recommend google!
The
Internet is most used in the late
afternoon and early evening, If you
want to avoid the bog-down, go online
in the morning or late at night, when
traffic is lighter.
If
you download anything, be sure to
remember where you put it. Write down
where you put it and what you put
there. If you hate to write on paper
- like me, always put downloads in
the same folder. You can move them
around later if you want to keep them
or delete the contents of that folder
if you don't.
